On June 4th-6th, 2025, High Commissioner Joseph Sokoine held a working visit to the Capital of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), Canada - St. John's to promote Tanzania's investment opportunities in the blue economy, mining, and energy sectors to both the public and private entities.

During the visit, the High Commissioner had the opportunity to meet with the Deputy Minister of the Government of NL, Mr. John Cowan, and held a fruitful meeting with the Department of Industry, Energy, and Technology.

However, the High Commissioner also met with the Mayors of the cities of St. John's and Conception Bay South in NL, the Trade Commission Service NL, Advantage St. John's, Oceans Advance, Genoa Design, Mining Industry NL, and the NAIA Newfoundland Aquaculture Industry Association.

In addition, the High Commissioner toured some of the high-tech centres in St. John's, including the Co. Innovation Center, C-Core, and facilities at Memorial University, as well as the Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Virtual Marine.
