The High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to Canada, H.E. Joseph Sokoine, paid a courtesy call to the Mayor of the City of Ottawa, His Worship Mark Sutcliffe, at his Office on 24 September 2024.

This was the first meeting between the two leaders since the High Commissioner's arrival in Ottawa.

The two discussed areas of potential collaboration between Tanzania and Canada through their Capital Cities.

The High Commissioner commended the City of Ottawa for its great work in environmental protection, infrastructure development, and urban development. 

He further commended the City of Ottawa for being very welcoming to people of different backgrounds, including a growing number of Tanzanian Diaspora.
