On March 4th, 2025, Hon. Anthony Mavunde, the Minister for Minerals had an opportunity to meet with Hon. Ahmed Hussen, the Minister of International Development Canada, on the sidelines of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada Convention.

Hon. Mavunde was accompanied to the meeting by H.E. Joseph Sokoine, High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to Canada, and officials from the State Mining Corporation and the Mining Commission, and Hon. Hussen was accompanied by officials from Global Affairs Canada (GAC).

The ministers engaged in a fruitful discussion about the potential collaboration opportunities between Canada and Tanzania in the capacity-building of Tanzanian youth and women in the Minerals Sector, particularly on modern technologies.

During the meeting, Hon. Hussein and GAC officials reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to exploring ways to assist capacity building through skills development, as evidenced by the submission of a report.
