The High Commission participated in the 11th Toronto Tea Festival, held from February 1st to 2nd, 2025, in Toronto, to showcase and promote a variety of Tanzanian teas to Canadian stakeholders.

The festival brought together tea companies (exhibitors) of varying sizes from Canada and abroad. It attracted tea enthusiasts eager to explore tea-drinking cultures and sample, purchase, and learn about different teas.

At the Tanzania booth, visitors tested Tanzanian teas whereby most of them expressed strong interest, particularly in masala tea. The interest underscores the potential for Tanzanian tea to do well in the Canadian market; hence, this offers an opportunity for Tanzania tea companies to explore possibilities to export to the Canadian market in future editions of the festivals.

The High Commission received numerous positive comments on our tea samples during the festival. Visitors were particularly impressed by the unique flavor profiles and the high-quality packaging. This feedback is a testament to the high standard and unique characteristics of Tanzanian teas, instilling a sense of pride and confidence in the quality of our products.

However, some visitors noted that Tanzania is best known for its coffee, and many coffee lovers have asked for Peaberry coffee. This feedback underscores the need for more awareness and more effective promotion of Tanzanian coffee and tea in Canada.
